Loving Our Public Lands at Outdoor Retailer
In one short month, Wilderness Press will once again be heading to Salt Lake City for Outdoor Retailer Summer Market. While we’re stoked, as always, to check out all the latest gear, show off our new guidebooks, and see all our partners and friends, Summer Market will be vastly different from previous shows. It will likely be the last Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake City. There will be less of a carefree party atmosphere and more of a passionate display of love for the outdoor industry and all we stand for. There will be a strong determination to protect what is ours—public lands. And Wilderness Press is proud to be a part of it all.
Outdoor Industry Association, Conservation Alliance, and Outdoor Alliance have been working tirelessly to facilitate conversations and remind policymakers on the local, state, and federal levels of the importance of public lands to Americans. While many of us have been adding our voices to the conversations and working in our own cities and states, Outdoor Retailer will be an opportunity for everyone in the outdoors industry to unite and support one another, to reinforce the importance of public lands to the outdoor recreation economy.
Wilderness Press is proud to support our public lands. After all, where would we be without them? Public lands are where our children go on their first hikes, where we sleep under the stars with coyotes howling in the distance, where we breathlessly bag our first peaks, where we picnic and bike and paddle and run.
Our country needs public lands, and the outdoors industry needs to do everything we can to protect them. This is something bigger than all of us, but as the Outdoor Industry Alliance reminds us all, “Together We Are a Force.” Outdoor Retailer will be a blast, but now we’re united more than ever to protect our lands. And we can’t wait to see you there.
Full disclosure—we’re also excited to sport the new “This Land is Our Land” trucker hats!
